Ossabaw Island Writers Retreat @ Ossabaw Island, Georgia
Feb 23 – Feb 28 all-day

Join us for our 8th annual Spring Ossabaw Island Writers’ Retreat, February 23-February 28, 2018.

Work with one of our critically acclaimed writers in a workshop limited to five qualified participants. Each day, participants will bring manuscripts of their work-in-progress to their assigned workshop group where they will read, discuss and receive feedback about their projects from fellow participants and the assigned group leader. Workshop manuscripts should be limited to 12 pages poetry/16-20 pages fiction or non-fiction.

All work and no play make for a dull day–therefore, writers will have plenty of time to rest, relax and explore the island during the morning and afternoons. In addition, writers will meet with their faculty members one-on-one to discuss their manuscripts in detail.

$2495 tuition covers six days and five nights lodging, meals, writing workshops, one-on-one manuscript consultations with nationally recognized authors, craft seminars, readings, visiting agents and publishers, ferried transportation to the island, and special hotel rates for those who wish to visit Savannah before or after the Retreat.

Final application deadline, January 15, 2018. Early applications highly recommended since there are limited openings (five-six per genre) and the retreat tends to fill quickly.

Your Life as Story @ Holy Cross Monastery
Mar 23 – Mar 25 all-day

Limited to 10 participants

Are you stuck, looking for a way in, unable to figure out how to proceed, wondering how to make a cohesive story and a compelling read from the raw material that is your life? To master memoirist Beverly Donofrio writing is about diving deep to find your truth, and then shaping your experiences into a story others will not want to put down: because your truth, pain, shame, obsessions, help them face their own. And because telling your story not only has the potential to heal the teller, but the reader, too.
Beverly will offer in-class exercises designed to unearth memory and approach your material in a safe, fun, and original way. She’ll instruct you in the craft of plot, setting, and reflection, teach you how to move back and forth in time seamlessly and to write detailed, visually descriptive language.
